Clean Energy Initiative {CEI) Project Manager (PM)
Job Description
{Independent Contractor – Part-time Position 20 hours per week)

The Clean Energy Initiative (CEI} Project Manager (PM} will manage day-to-day operations for the CEI program and will support a broad range of studies, engineering, and other consulting services to support the development, analysis, design, and construction of renewable energy projects. The PM will spend time engaged with clients to identify new work, prepare proposals, establish project objectives, formulate project approaches, and manage/oversee a team of energy interns and ambassadors to meet the project objectives and provide the client with useful, actionable, and measurable deliverables.

The HBCU CDAC Clean Energy Initiative (CEI) addresses the barriers for low-to-moderate-income households to afford solar. CEI helps to secure funding and manpower to increase solar awareness and accessibility while providing workforce training to students and residents in communities surrounding HBCUs and MSls. Through generous grant support from philanthropic partners, corporations, and federal and state agencies. Recent CEI projects have provided free solar to homes owners in Greensboro and Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Project Manager Tasks:

The CEI Project Manager, under the direct supervision of the CEI Program Director, is responsible for the following tasks:
• Develop new and manage existing client relationships through client marketing and project
interactions; identify new sales opportunities with clients, including federal, state, and local
government agencies, institutions, non-profits, and industry
• Mentor and train less experienced staff on technical and business aspects of projects and the industry; serve as a recognized industry leader in renewable generation planning and engineering; support company initiatives
• Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the execution of multiple projects
• Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
• Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant internal stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
• Develop detailed project plan(s} to monitor and track progress
• Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
• Measure performance using appropriate project management tools and techniques
• Manage the relationship with the client and relevant stakeholders
• Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
• Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
• Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals
• Assist with new team onboarding and team-building practices
• Provide weekly updates to Program Director
• Ensure the CEI website and social media accounts are up to date with relevant information about CEI
• Other relative duties as assigned
The Project Manager’s position requires a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five (S) years of experience in workforce development, clean energy, or community development. The PM must be familiar with a variety of the related concepts, practices, and procedures and be able to perform a variety of tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. The PM reports to the CEI Program Director.

Project Manager requirements:
• Minimum 5 years of related experience with a broad and deep understanding of renewable generation and technologies
• Proven ability to lead, educate, and train a team in regard to renewable generation studies and design
efforts
• Proven working experience in project management
• Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Solid organizational skills, including attention to detail and multitasking skills
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience
• Experience with project management software tool
