What is HBCU CEI?

The HBCU CEI is one of four strategic initiatives of the HBCU Community Development Action Coalition (HBCU CDAC). Through the Clean Energy Initiative, CDAC offers a sustained, multidimensional, and wholly integrated approach to building awareness and promoting transformative energy innovation among under-resourced communities while leveraging HBCUs in the cultivation of a clean energy community-centric ecosystem.

The CEI employs community-centric clean energy solutions through collaborative efforts integrating the resources of HBCUs, industry partners and affiliated stakeholders in collaboration with philanthropic organizations and government.

The Initiative is fueled by the pioneers of yesterday; powered by the leaders of today; and energized by the innovators of tomorrow.

While promoting environmental stewardship, this transformative enterprise empowers HBCUs, MSIs, and their graduates with increased resources and opportunities.

What is the HBCU Community Development Action Coalition?

HBCU CDAC is a non-profit coalition dedicated to creating programs that benefit HBCU/MSI students, staff, and residents of the communities surrounding the campuses. Our strategic programs are also designed with the underlying principle that our partners can benefit from their financial investment and do well by doing good. HBCU CDAC is also in the process of developing more customized opportunities in order to partner with additional corporations, foundations, and government agencies.

“The HBCU Clean Energy Initiative is a sustained, innovative program committed to employing community centric clean energy solutions for our HBCU partners. Our collaborative efforts will integrate our HBCUs and a host of partners and stakeholders to transform neighborhoods and businesses. We aim to increase awareness of clean energy resources and opportunities in underserved communities around the country, whether residential or commercial. This is why we do this work – to bring equity, through clean energy, to communities where HBCUs are located.” Ron Butler, CEO, HBCU-CDAC.
